Creative Challenge Brings Creative Reward

In December, students at Fort Mackenzie High School were offered an opportunity to get a private tour of Kendrick Mansion while it was decorated for the Christmas holiday. The tour guide was David Peterson, known to some as the Fort Mackenzie social studies teacher, to others he is Father Christmas, but he also happens to be the president of the Trail End Guilds.

The challenge was to go on the tour and gather information that could be used to write a short fictional story about one of the past inhabitants of the mansion. If a student completed the challenge the reward was an afternoon painting class at the Paint Post. Eight students completed the challenge and were thrilled to have a chance to paint a canvas, maybe for their room or maybe to give as a gift. The students enjoyed the challenge, as well as the reward!
