Meadowlark DI Team Conquers State; Prepares for Nationals

The Meadowlark Destination Imagination team “The Nerdy Narwhals of the Nutty Sea” conquered the Scientific-Going to Extreme challenge by exploring the extreme environment that exists in the earth’s oceans. During the seven month planning time, the seven member team used their imaginations to create an eight minute story in skit format with original characters, scenery depicting the environment and costumes. The skit features an original invented gear involving the principles of hydraulics, gravity and movement.

The local team representing Wyoming will join other elementary teams from the United States and 20 other countries, May 20th-24th in Knoxville, Tennessee for the Destination Imagination Globals. Destination Imagination is the largest worldwide creative problem solving organization for students. The emphasis of the program is creativity and teamwork. All ideas, creations and results to the challenges are done by the students, while the team manager provides a safe working environment. Another part of the competition is the instant challenge that involves quick thinking, original creativity and teamwork. See for more details on the competition or the new challenges for next fall. Questions about DI may be addressed to SCSD#2 coordinator LaDonna Leibrich at Sheridan High School.

The team is currently fundraising for the event with raffle tickets, bake sales, Domino's Pizza cards and a silent auction.
