Sheridan Junior High Hosts Destination Imagination State Tournament

Sheridan Junior High School (SJHS) recently hosted the 2014 Destination Imagination (DI) State Tournament, bringing together students from more than 20 Wyoming schools. Of the more than 325 students competing, 16 teams were made up of students from the Sheridan area.

In the tournament, teams of 5-7 students competed in one of six categories: technology, theatrical, theatrical and technology combination, improv challenge, structure challenge or project outreach. Each category comes with a unique challenge, and students generate creative solutions to their respective challenge. Although many teams began preparations for the competition late last year, part of the competition involves and instant challenge, in which teams have but 5 minutes to come up with a solution to the challenge and 5 more to present to the judges.

Those teams that placed first in their categories qualified for the national tournament in Knoxville, Tennessee in May. At the national competition, teams will compete against 20,000 other students from across the nation.
