SJHS Free or Reduced Meals Program
Children need healthy meals in order to learn. As part of our commitment to provide every student with the resources to succeed, we offer free or reduced meals to students who qualify. The reduced prices for meals are $0.30 for breakfast and $0.40 for lunch (for comparison to the full prices, see our Meal Prices page). You may apply for school meals any time during the school year by submitting an application directly to your school or district.
The following are basic answers about eligibility for these programs; however, we encourage you to review the free and reduced meals application for additional questions about eligibility and to apply for the program.
Who can get free meals?
All children in households receiving benefits from Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations, or, in some States, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) can get free meals regardless of your income. Also, your children can get free meals if your household's gross income is within the free limits on the Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines.
Who can get reduced price meals?
Your children can get low cost meals if your household income is within the reduced price limits on the Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines.
Do I need to fill out an application for each child?
No, you can use one application for all students in your household. We cannot approve an application that is not complete, so be sure to fill out all required information. Once complete, return the completed application to one of your children's school.
If you believe your child may qualify for free or reduced meals, please print, complete and deliver the Free or Reduced Meals Application to one of your children's school. If you have any questions regarding the program, please contact your child's school.

To file a program complaint of discrimination, complete the USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form, (AD-3027) found online, and at any USDA office, or write a letter addressed to USDA and provide in the letter all of the information requested in the form.
