Regardless of other activities, the best predictor of academic summer loss or gain is whether or not a child reads during the months away from school. In an effort to help kids maintain their current academic performance, the teachers at Henry A. Coffeen are once again offering our “Summer Sun and Fun” Reading Club.
Reading clubs will meet outside once a week, on either Tuesday afternoon or Thursday morning, to read and discuss a quality book with a teacher. Each book chosen will have an accompanying movie, and when students finish they will meet to enjoy dinner and compare the movie interpretation with the book they completed.
Students and parents raved about this opportunity last summer, and we look forward to just as much participation this year! Please email Shebree Moore at shebree.moore @scsd2.com if you have questions or would like to participate in this club.
