On October 21, the 6th grade da Vinci Lab class at the Wright Place participated in the First Annual Wright Place Sixth Grade Fly-In. There were three teams of two (blue, yellow, and green) and the aircraft were tested for their aerodynamics, distance, and speed.
Each team designed and built their own aircraft as the culmination of efforts spent learning the history and science of flight. Through these lessons, students progressed from studying the Wright Brothers to designing prototypes, and then flying their own creations in flight school to prepare for the Fly-In. While there is always room for improvement in design, all three teams had successful flights.
